Search Process
Initial Consultation
We meet with the stakeholders involved with the hiring, to determine the overall scope of the position. Short and long term objectives as well as the technical skills and experience levels required are identified. We learn about organizational structure, corporate philosophy and performance expectations. With growing companies we assist in defining job descriptions.
Search Strategy
A KMA principal holds full responsibility for each recruiting assignment and maintains regular contact with key decision makers on the customer’s team. An organized search plan is developed to include a comprehensive job description and time lines. On average, a search will take 90 days from start to candidate acceptance.
Research and Networking
There are a number of resources our consultants will use during the search process. The company database contains contacts in many different industries. Specific recruitment advertising may be required for some assignments and direct recruitment methods will be used where qualified candidates have been identified through research. These methods are all used in strict confidence. Client company names are not mentioned until a candidate has shown interest in discussing opportunities.
Candidate Selection
We do not send resumes to our clients … we refer potential employees. Our senior consultants conduct rigorous candidate interviews to determine skill, experience and interest level. The most qualified are presented to decision makers and interview times are set. KMA performs all of the contact and confirmation work as well as the client and candidate post interview follow up.
Reference Checks
Candidates are generally asked to provide three business or work related references. They will consist of one or two supervisors, a customer and/or a peer, where suitable. We use a behavior based questioning style with each referee to build a profile of past performance and individual potential.
Negotiation and Acceptance
We recommend that offers of employment be made to candidates through KMA. This method provides a buffer between employer and employee until an offer is signed. We often help negotiate salary, benefits, start date and whatever else is required.
Follow-Up
We maintain contact with both client and candidate through a six-month transition period following the start date. We are available to both parties during that time, ensuring that the placement is successful.
